Guess who does the interpreting?  Yep, the ego.

Let’s not vilify the ego, okay?  If our mind weren’t able to remember and plan and conceptualize, we’d never get dinner on the table or our children to school on time.

But our ego also has a few highly important primary directives to fulfill – the biggest one being to keep us safely alive, no matter what.

We all develop certain beliefs in our childhood that allow us to survive and stay at least mostly sane in a world that thinks sitting at a desk all day from age six is a great way to educate children.  Lots of us grew up in less-than-ideal households.  Let’s not blame our parents – each generation does better than the one before, and at the end of the day, we picked them!

So our ego developed certain beliefs as a way to cope throughout our childhood – beliefs around what it takes to stay safe, loved, and secure in a world where, as toddlers, we are completely dependent on our parents.

The thing is, the ego will defend these beliefs to the death.  To our deep subconscious, it’s a matter of survival.

On top of this deep subconscious conditioning are other beliefs – beliefs we absorbed from our school system, our friends, our industry, society in general.  Even the spiritual community has its own set of beliefs.

This is the framework through which our intuition is interpreted.  There’s no way around it.  Intuitive information is ALWAYS relayed through totally subjective interpretation.  If our mind weren’t interpreting it, we could never conceptualize it as thought, never put it into action.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with egoic interpretation – this process is what makes intuition a functional, practical tool in our lives.

The real question is whether YOUR personal, entirely subjective egoic framework for intuitive interpretation is creating productive results.

In other words, is how YOU personally interpret intuitive information in your life serving YOU?  Is it creating the circumstances you want?

If not … you may need a new framework through which to receive intuitive guidance!

But with more power always comes one thing … more responsibility!

Right now, we have the ability to access SO much valuable information via our intuition.  But we also have equal opportunity to access a bunch of complete nonsense that creates dangerous confusion in our lives – and perhaps the lives of others.  This is the nature of polarity.

So here are the “rules” for using our intuition productively and accurately in 2013:

1. Be impeccable with your intention.

Right now, we must be incredibly conscious of the intentions behind the desire for intuitive information.  Is the ego simply thirsty with curiosity?  Are we seeking a spiritual shortcut around the rules of time and effort that govern third-dimensional life?  Or are we asking questions in the Akashic Records that are truly designed to move us forward on our path into our Soul’s Purpose?

2. Be precise.

Because our vibrational states are so potent at this time, we must use our language with incredible care.  Asking questions about what we’re “supposed to do” or what we “should do” was unproductive before.  Now, these questions are downright dangerous in the disempowerment they create!  Language is a multi-dimensional tool that we must use with greater precision than ever before to access our intuitive resources.

3. Focus.

With our expanded awareness, we can access all kinds of information sources with our intuition.  The question is – do you KNOW what sources you are accessing … and why?  Simply “opening up,” crossing our fingers and hoping that something valuable arises from our intuitive process is going to yield more and more generalized information that serves no-one productively.  Our level of consciousness allows us to pluck precise and detailed information from the vastness that is available to us.  Without precise direction of our intuitive resources, the information we receive will hold less and less meaning for us, and for our clients.

Now is the time to question your own intuitive process and ask yourself if you are consciously and powerfully directing this process!

That kind of past-life memory could indeed add to present-life visibility issues.

But that story of false imprisonment is actually not the problem.

No, the real problem is that, in that past life, after getting out of prison, my client made the choice not to rebuild their business.  In that lifetime, my client made the choice to struggle financially, lest he be noticed.  And in that lifetime, my client went to his grave impoverished … by choice.

And today, my client is still making that same, exact choice!

You see, it doesn’t matter whether our issues have their root in a past life.  The truth is, we’re experiencing the issue in this lifetime.  The issue is showing up right here and now.

And guess what?  Here and now is the only place we can resolve this issue.  Here and now is when we have the opportunity to heal from our past-life negative choices, and make new choices that express the truth of who we really are.

But so many people come to me and tell me of bad things that “happened” in past lives, and how this is now preventing them from moving forward.  Never mind that we create every experience, past life or present life.  Never mind that resolving past life negativity is why we are here.

Past life memories become a convenient excuse not to express our Divinity and do our Soul Purpose.

The reason we are gifted with so much access to our Soul’s history through greater consciousness is so that we can remember the mistakes we made in the past.  We can resolve the choices we made, once upon a time, the consequences of which we are still experiencing today.

Our past-life memories are not designed to be an excuse to keep making the same choices, over and over again.

Our past-life memories are a tool for liberation from negative choices that we insist on making.

Instead of asking: “What happened ‘to me’ in this past life?” it’s so much more empowering to ask: “What choices did I make in that past life that I am continuing to make today?  And what choice can I make that is a more appropriate expression of my Divinity?”

By accessing the Akashic Records, we have the power to examine our choices. If our past lives are creating “issues” for us today, it means we are still making the same choices today as we did in the past.

But in this present moment, we have the ability, always, to make a new choice.

Here’s the funny thing: I usually know how committed they are to that intention within just a few minutes of accessing their Record.

When a client is totally, whole-heartedly committed to their intention, the information I receive for them is clear, direct, powerful, and highly specific.

When a client is wishy-washy about their intention, the information is more general, indirect, suggestive.  And often, I end up having a conversation with that client about what they REALLY want, so that we can get a new quality of information for them from their Akashic Records.

Commitment to intention isn’t just important when we read the Akashic Records on behalf of others – it is imperative when we’re using our intuition on our own behalf!

Remember, your intuition functions entirely based on your intention.  Some people operate from an attitude of “Spirit, just show me the path that’s meant for me.”  It’s a terrible way to utilize our intuition.  No path is “meant for” any of us.  We are Spirit, and we have free will for a reason.

We get to choose our path.

Our intuition then serves to guide us along that path.

The more committed we are to what we say we want, the more specific the guidance we receive will be.

Unfortunately, some of us set intentions that are full of hope, that are more wish than decision.  And then we wait for clear guidance around our next steps … and wonder why it’s not coming.  Worse, we may then set a new intention (or hope, or wish!) because obviously the first one wasn’t “meant to be.”

We forget that we are the powerful Creators of our experience.  We expect Spirit and intuition to lead the way, when it is really our WILL that is the creative force behind all the spiritual resources we are blessed with.

When you ask for guidance, how committed are you to your intention?  Are you prepared to do anything, to change everything, to step way out of your comfort zone to manifest what you truly want?

Or are you only committed to your intention as long as you can manifest it easily, without changing too many things in your life, without investing time or effort?

The clarity of the guidance you receive will actually tell you.

If you’ve been struggling to get “clear,” the problem is probably not that you aren’t tuned in to your intuition.  The problem is probably your commitment level.

And if you go to get a reading from someone to help you, guess what?  That reading is STILL based on your intention, and commitment level.  So if you can’t get clear, and you keep getting readings from intuitives that also don’t give you clarity … it still boils down to your commitment level.

If we have consciousness of the wisdom contained in the Akashic Records, then we now have more choices available to us based on that information.  This is how consciousness sets us free – by making more choices available to us than we were able to perceive before!

So if we have greater consciousness of our Higher Self, of who we are as a spiritual Being, then we also have the choice to align to the guidance that comes from our Higher Self.

Not only that, but we have the ability to more consciously ask for guidance, to actually direct the intuitive process.

Greater consciousness means more power.

But that’s not the end of the equation by any means.

Because more power through conscious choice means that we also have greater responsibility.  If a choice is now available to us, then we’re suddenly consciously responsible for that choice.  We can’t NOT make a choice – because even that is a choice.

The full equation is this:  Consciousness = Power = Responsibility

The break-down currently happening usually occurs somewhere between power and responsibility.

Here we are, and we’ve evolved ourselves to the point of having a VERY high degree of consciousness of our own spiritual nature.  So many people now perceive their own Self beyond the mind and ego!  We have woken up!

For students who study Soul Realignment and read the Akashic Records, there is now absolutely NO denying our true Divine nature … because all we are pretty much doing in this program is studying the nature of the Soul and how it creates its experience.  That’s a LOT of consciousness … a lot of power … a LOT of responsibility.

But regardless of what modalities or spiritual tools we use, when we evolve our consciousness, we have more inspiration that flows through us.  We have a bigger vision for ourselves and for the world.  We have a deep, burning desire to serve others through our Divine Gifts.

These are all gifts that come with greater consciousness.  All that inspiration, all those visions give us the power to CHOOSE to align to our Divine nature.

But with that power to choose alignment to our Divinity comes the RESPONSIBILITY to align to our Divine nature.

And when we persist in going to jobs we hate, when we stay in relationships that are not an expression of our Truth, when we buckle to how things are done in our family, our society, our industry, rather than uphold OUR Divine way … then this is now a choice.

We can’t pretend otherwise.

If we have consciousness, but we refuse to be responsible and USE the power we now have to make choices, we will make ourselves miserable.

Not only that – we’ll make ourselves CONSCIOUSLY miserable.  We’ll experience our misery more profoundly than the people who haven’t yet woken up to the massive gap between their human and Divine experience.

Once we have consciousness, there’s really only one way forward – into new choices that keep us on a path of expansion, not just spiritual but PRACTICAL expansion into a life that truly reflects our Divinity.

That means we might have to come out of the healer closet, or the psychic closet, or the spiritual teacher closet, and actually do our sacred work in the world.  We might have to do the highly inconvenient, start our own business, heal from chronic pain, leave a relationship, break our family’s collusion of lack or ill health or obligation or guilt or blame or shame.

Once we have consciousness, we have the power to live our Divinity.  We also have the responsibility to live our Divinity.

What Truth of yours are you not be fully expressing into the world?

What are you tolerating that is not aligned to your Divine self-expression?

You embraced the consciousness – ready to embrace the responsibility?

Not only would Spirit never withhold our desires from us – Spirit CANNOT withhold our desires from us.  Because we ARE Spirit.  So who is doing the withholding?  That’s right – it’s US.

I’d like to offer a very different perspective on the concept of Divine Timing, a concept that has more to do with the flow of intuition, inspiration, and information.

Our minds have a crazy thirst for knowledge.  We want to learn, we want to “know,” we want to have answers.  Frequently, we’d also like to have a plan, we’d like to know what to expect, what problems might arise down the road, and what solutions might be appropriate.  And so we do our homework.  We research.  We study.  We’re pretty much addicted to information.

But here’s the interesting thing about expanding our consciousness and accessing the Akashic Records.  All the information we could ever need or want, for any choice we’ll ever have to make, is there for us.  It’s there for us unconditionally, ready and waiting.

But here’s the catch: The information is there for us when and if we are aligned to it.  In other words, we have to be in enough resonance, in enough vibrational like-ness with the information in the Akashic Records so that it becomes accessible.

We’re not aligned to information we need in five years until … well, probably about four years and eleven months from now!

We’re not aligned to the information that solves a possible problem until that problem actually arises.

We’re not aligned to the intuitive heads-up about possible problems on our path until we’ve actually committed ourselves to walking that path.

Mind you, this is not the Divine, being stingy with information, shaking its finger at us saying: “No, you’re not ready yet.  You have to wait.”

It is OUR energetic state that decides when we’ll be in vibrational alignment with the information that serves us – in the present moment.

It’s enough to drive our poor minds crazy.  Unless we’re willing to trust in the infinite abundance of the Akashic Records.  We have to trust that all information we could ever desire will be available to us when and if we can actually use it.

I was perfectly comfortable with this concept until about three months ago, when I decided to do a live two-day training event around Money and Purpose here in Arizona in June.  Until then, flowing with guidance as it came was comfortable.  I didn’t do much planning at all, and that worked for me and my business just fine!

A live event is obviously a far more logistically intensive endeavor than an online event!  And so my poor brain went into planning overdrive for a while.  I got to witness myself first-hand, trying to “figure things out” ahead of time – and, as it turns out, ahead of Divine Timing.  I was trying to make many decisions quickly in order to be prepared, and make sure everything gets done in time for June 1st.

It’s a mindset that is actually rooted in lack.  And it actually creates a ton of stress!  When we try to rush our decisions before their time, we actually don’t have all the vibrationally aligned intuitive guidance that we need to truly make a choice that is true for us.  Inevitably, we end up second-guessing ourselves, changing our minds, or we move forward with nagging insecurity.

About a week ago, I let it go.  I decided to leave some question marks hanging in my head, and wait for inspiration and intuition to tell me what was next. My mind protested for a while, I’ll tell you that!  After all, over a hundred guests are confirmed so far, and there are a lot of moving pieces involved!

Oddly enough, I’ve gotten more done based on spontaneous inspiration in the past week than I have in the previous three!

Bit by bit, literally on an “as needed” and fully actionable basis, inspiration has filled in the blanks of unmade decisions in my head.

After all, what good is information that isn’t actionable?  It only creates stress, a sense of a long to-do list looming over us.

I still have quite a few decisions left to make.  Some of them are important.  And I know that my connection to the Akashic Records means that I will know what to do when I can act on what I know.

Intuitive information comes to us in Divine Timing.  It’s still OUR timing, because we are the Divine Creators of our experience.  But the information is designed to move our creative process forward – and there’s only so much that can be done in a day.  We don’t need the five-year action plan.  We just need to know what to do right now.

Aligning to Divine Timing means trusting that you will have all the answers, information, guidance, and resources available to you when they can actually serve you in creating what you want.  Not before, though.

Trust in Divine Timing.  You’ll know what to do when you get there.

You see … before we ever incarnated, before we ever began making choices, both positive and negative, within this human experience … before all that, our Soul became a Soul.

Our Soul was birthed from Divine Source, created as a unique, individuated expression of itself. From Divine Source, we were created as a one-of-a-kind piece of consciousness, connected to everything else through Source, OF Source, and yet separate from everything else.

Learning about our past lives is great, especially if we’re still experiencing the consequences of the choices we made in those past lives.

But to me, it’s far more valuable to journey back to our Soul’s origination and discover who we were when we were first created. Before layers and layers of humanity began obscuring our Divine nature … what WAS our Divine nature?

This is the true gift of the Akashic Records.

Who, exactly, are we as Divine Beings? What is the unique energetic matrix of individuated consciousness that is our Soul?

Our spiritual development path is not about evolving our Soul. It’s about returning to the understanding OF our Soul, so that our Soul may be expressed as human. After all, that’s why we’re here.

Spiritual development is about allowing the unique energetic matrix of consciousness that is our Soul to be translated through our human experience, in all its realities. Who is our Soul in relationship? In work and business? How does our Soul express itself through money and health?

It’s a hit-or-miss experiment, really … unless we enter the Akashic Records and discover who we’ve always been, and who we’re meant to be.

At the end of the day, our mind still has to interpret guidance into a mental format … which is where most problems arise!

So here’s a handy guide for knowing when your interpretation of intuitive guidance is leading you astray:

1. Guidance will never tell you to delay financial abundance, joy, fulfilling relationships, or good health. If your “inner guidance” is telling you to wait on these things for the sake of greater reward down the road, you’re likely avoiding DOING something right now. It’s an infinitely abundant Universe, and there is NO part of your highest path that includes suffering … or even tolerance of less than ideal circumstances.

2. Guidance will never tell you to keep doing what you’re currently doing. In fact, true guidance will usually tell you to take action that goes way beyond your comfort zone, and is thus mildly terrifying. Guidance will ask you to trust in the abundance of the Universe by taking new levels of risk, making greater investments of your time, effort, and money, in order to create new results.

3. Guidance will not give you an “assignment.” I know this one is going to ruffle some feathers, and I’m fully prepared to receive a few emails on this one! But seriously … you are not “being asked” to do anything! You are not on a job assignment from Spirit. No Higher Beings have designated you as an emissary, a messenger, or have given you a specific task. You know why? Because you are Divine and the absolute HIGHEST authority in your own life. This incarnation is designed to be YOUR playground of Divine self-expression. You ARE God within your incarnation. No “higher being” – not angels, archangels, galactic councils, groups of consciousness – would EVER presume to usurp the purpose of your lifetime.

So why do people so often tell me that they were “given” a spiritual assignment, that they are “being asked” to fulfill some mission? I do understand that this is a real phenomenon! But it is entirely SELF-created. Remember, WE are the all-powerful Creators of our own experience. If a lack of egoic self-esteem leads us to search for spiritual acknowledgement and a need to be “special” … we’ll want and therefore ASK for an “assignment.” And intuitive guidance can simply not override your will. If you want a spiritual mission, you’ll get one – because you’re the ultimate authority of your life, remember?

Seriously – actual “higher beings” would NEVER give you anything to do but focus on creating a life that is an expression of your Divine abundance.

4. Guidance will never ask you to dismiss any aspect of physical life. The spiritual realm acknowledges the perfection of the human experience, and would never ask you to give up money, sex, or material possessions. The material plane is a physical expression of Divine Abundance and is sacred. If you can’t find the Divine in the iPhone, a stunning pair of shoes, a piece of chocolate, or an orgasm, then you’re missing the point of your Soul’s choice to be in a human experience.

5. Guidance will never have you focus on helping “the planet” or “people.” Guidance is designed to help YOU create what YOU want in this human experience. If you’re preoccupied with all that you want to do for “the world,” it’s entirely possible that you’re not actually living the life you want – and don’t feel empowered enough to create the life of your choosing. it’s far more convenient at times to focus on saving “the world” than it is to engage in the very real effort and discomfort of changing our own lives.

Remember – the ONLY place you can create change is in your own experience. Be the change – remember? Focus on being the living example of what you want for others … it’s the only place from which you can be a true inspirational leader for global change. Do it yourself first. Worry about the rest of the planet later.

I live and breathe by my intuition. But I’ve also witnessed my own ego distorting intuitive guidance because of its resistance.

This is NORMAL – with awareness, we can trust that we are interpreting guidance correctly.

At the end of the day, your inner wisdom must create new RESULTS – the results you want! Because, as a Divine Being, you are here to joyfully create the experience you desire for yourself.

If results are not forthcoming – don’t create a “spiritual” reason for your lack. Assume that the error is yours … because it is.
